Judges 7
Who can take part in His Great Work?
We can find answer in the Book of Judges, Chapter 7. Selection in the time of Gideon is the selection of our days. Requirements that the Lord had presented in that days, have not been minimised but they have been increased.
First selection. Judges 7:2-3. Those who were afraid, they had to go back home.
Second selection. Judges 7:4-7. Those who lacked self-restrained and weren’t alert had to go back home as well.
What have 300 people done? Judges 7:8-22. Their features: they were brave, patient, vigilant, and disciplined. Presence of the full order is the success of the activity (work).
If someone out of 300 people would earlier or later broke the jars or blew the trumpet, everything would be destroyed (plans would be destroyed). We need endurance (patience), endurance we could get through the self- control. Self-control is compulsory for developing endurance.
(That’ why firstly goes self-control, and later endurance in 2Peter Chapter 1.)
Everybody stood on his place, and was looking and waiting for a signal from a senior – Gedion.
Not always light is shining to the world. Sometimes we don’t see it, but it exists. The light was among those 300 people. But others do not see it to a certain point of the time.
God’s nation should prepare to fight with darkness.
First condition. Developing braveness and firmness. Could we have absolute braveness? No. Fear and timidity could be in every human being. Gideon had such features as well (Judges 7: 9-11). Selected people who were with Gideon had human’s fear, but fear to break God’s will was bigger than the human’s fear. Mainly for this reason they were select.
Second condition. Developing of endurance, vigilance. Endurance everywhere – it strengthens a will power and helps to reach a victory.
Third condition. Order. Psalms 122:3.
